SEO Strategies for 2013

SEO Strategy has become an increasingly popular topic in 2013. Many people maintain the content marketing is the new name of the game in SEO, however many maintain that it has always been the name of the game. The reason for this is that content has always been the foundation of search engine optimization and will always be the major emphasis of Google and Bing. Give the search engines what they are looking for and they will reward you.

Bouncing into Google's Index

Over the weekend I launched another site, www.Charleston-SEO.net and I think that Google has a crush on it. One of the ways I can tell that Google likes my sites structure, coding and architecture is where they bring the site in on their index. The reason I know this is because at that point, those are the only aspects of my site they are using to judge it, there are usually no links to any of the sites in place at that point.

Our current framework for sites was built on the Boilerplate HTML5 mobile framework to begin with, however we have done a lot of customization and upgrades in the css to push the edge on speed. We must be doing something right because the last six sites we've launched have shown up on Google's index between the 22 and 29 spots.

As a matter of fact Google was indexing our sites so quickly that on one of them they grabbed filler content before we had even submitted the site to them. To make sure that didn't happen again we started using a robots.txt file to block sites in development from being indexed too soon. However, this led to a surprise as well.

In the last few days, we finished our new Charleston-SEO.net site and began submitting it to Google and installing Analytics and Webmaster tools and sitemaps and all the other things you need to do to properly launch a site. Normally after I do this I do a search and take a look at the keyword category to get a feel for which sites are already there.

While doing this step, I was surprised to find that www.charleston-seo.net had already bounced into the Google index and #29, even though they had not been able to crawl the site due to the robots.txt file. In place of the normal description, they had placed the following notification...
Needless to say, now I'm chomping at the bit to get the site fully indexed and see what that does to it's ranking. If you're interested in moving up in your keyword categories give us a call for a free consultation at 843 568 5936.
